I love what I do!
I was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and make sure to get back there once a year (usually in January – ha!) to remind me how grateful I am for our balmy west coast winters. I originally wanted to be an optometrist and attended the University of Regina and then the University of Saskatchewan in preparation for this career. I finally decided that running an optical shop was the best way for me to work with my hands as I’ve always enjoyed drafting, sketching and painting architecture.
After moving to Vancouver in 1998, I enrolled in the Optical program at Douglas College and in 2001 I met Vancouver optician Klaus Sebök. I was so inspired by what he was doing that I actually turned to my friend that moment and said “i’m going to own his business one day!” I saw that designing and creating custom and handmade eyewear was the way I could express my creativity. Here was an opportunity to work with absolutely unique eyewear that gives the wearer confidence and pride in their look.
I started working at Eyeland Framemakers in 2001 and instantly fell in love with it. In 2008, I became the owner of this special place. It is my greatest pleasure to help my clients create their own statements with the frames that they wear.
I stay involved in my profession and am invited to speak to opticians around Canada about how I create custom made eye frames, and am the past-president of the professional association, the OBC: Opticians of British Columbia. In my spare time I train at power weight lifting (I’m working towards a 245lb deadlift) and enjoy riding my bicycle home along the seawall.
I take pride in my work and am privileged to do what I love on a daily basis.

Living my dream!
I want to live in a world where everyone has amazing eyewear. Eyewear that they are proud to show off. I am keen to push people out of their comfort level of style and make you try something unique.
I am a Licensed Optician, graduate from Douglas College in June 2016. If you have any questions about any product that we carry: I am your girl. The most rewarding part of my position here at Eyeland is finding eyewear that people fall in love with. With two years experience in the Optical Industry I am also apprenticing with Sara as a framemaker.
You can always find me singing to a favourite song I love or talking about my passion for music. I love to travel and am slowly checking off more and more places off my bucket list.
